NSC welcomes new units for the 2010 seasonOnce again, the North Star Circuit welcomes new color guard units looking to enhance their marching programs and provide new performance opportunities for their students. Osseo High School under the direction of Zoe Norrgard will take the floor in competition for the first time in the 2010 season. The winter guard is an extension of Osseo's successful summer marching band program. Foley high school, (formerly known as the Firestars) returns after an 11 year hiatus of competition. Band director Janel Hesch is supporting color guard director Evan Pufpaff in the initiative to bring the activity back to Foley High School. Extended Mix has returned to the circuit as an off-spring of the South St. Paul winter guard. The unit is a combination of both South St. Paul High School and Simley High School and operates under the name Extended Mix as it did the last time the school participated in a combined program. Extended Mix is under the direction of Missy LeFebvre. Irondale "A" High School is under the direction of Gary Swanson and is the second unit of the Irondale program. Irondale "Open" will continue its national competitive presence at the Kansas City Regional and WGI while the "A" guard will provide an opportunity for newer students to gain experience.
